Barb earned her Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Webster University, St. Louis, Missouri, her Master of Strategic Studies (MSS) from the US Air Force’s Air University at Maxwell Air Force Base, Alabama, her Master of Arts (MA) in Wellness Management from Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana, her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from Aurora University, Illinois, and her Diploma in Nursing (RN) from Lutheran General Hospital School of Nursing, Park Ridge, Illinois. Her professional career includes 30 years of service as a US Air Force (USAF) nurse corps officer during which she held roles of increasing responsibility for elements of its global healthcare system. At the time of her retirement, she was dual-hatted as both Commander of the USAF’s School of Aerospace Medicine and Chair, of its En route Care Training Department.

Barb’s clinical expertise is derived from extensive experiences in medical-surgical, intensive care, and flight nursing. She has managed two health and wellness centers and served as a subject matter expert on fitness assessments; diet and weight management; disease prevention and management; and motivational strategies for lasting health-enhancing behavior change. In the private sector, Barb has been an executive management consultant and served twice as a community hospital Chief Nursing Officer. As a board-certified senior nurse executive and patient safety professional, she brings the full measure of her knowledge, skills and abilities into the classroom. Outside of work Barb enjoys spending time with her family, creating attractive landscape designs on her ranch, reading, and solving puzzles.
